Merry Christmas to all of you! It goes without saying that 2020 has been a challenging year, but we have survived and made it to another Christmas season.
As I was pondering what to write about in my Christmas blog post, my attention was drawn to something interesting in the Christmas story. Since there would be no Christmas without a Saviour, it’s only right to refer back to His story.
In Luke we find the story of the birth of Jesus. We read how Mary and Joseph traveled to Bethlehem to be taxed because they were of the house and lineage of David. We read how when they arrived in Bethlehem they found no place to stay. They lodged in the stable where the animals were kept because there was no room in the inn. In this lowly place the King of kings made His entrance into the world. God Almighty robed Himself in flesh and dwelt among the lowly such as I to become my Saviour.
As the story goes on, angels appeared on the hillside to speak to some lowly shepherds. They told the shepherds of the birth of Jesus. The shepherds left their flocks and went in search of the Child. They found Him lying in a manger. Their search was quick. It didn’t take them long to find Him.
In Matthew we find the story of the wisemen’s search for the Christ Child. Unlike the shepherds who found Him immediately upon His birth, the wisemen searched for Him for approximately 2 years. They even made inquiries along the way as they followed His star. They found Him in a house and presented gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Both the shepherds and wisemen searched for the Child. The shepherds found Him quickly and the wisemen took longer, but they found Him. Some of us may be on a quest to find Jesus. For some the search may be easy, while others may take time. The important thing is that we find Him. We live in trying times full of uncertainties. Our only hope and security is in Jesus Christ, Who is the same yesterday, today and forever. I encourage you during this season and in the new year, to find Jesus. He is everything we need.
Jesus brought us Salvation when He came to this earth. His death, burial, and resurrection is His plan for our Salvation. We participate in this by repenting of our sins, being baptized in Jesus name, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (Acts 2:38). This is how we find Jesus! We say that He is the Reason for the Season, but He came to redeem us. So, I suggest that we are the reason for the season. Merry Christmas and happy New Year!

I would like to wish all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving! In spite of the misfortunes of this year, we do have much to be thankful for.
We live in a world filled with turmoil, but a thankful heart and attitude can make a bad situation better. The Bible says that in the last days people will be unthankful. We see that fulfilled in our day. Many are unthankful and therefore, they are miserable. No matter how bad things have been or are presently, we can find something to be thankful for.
As you gather together with family and friends, and I hope you do no matter what the government says, enjoy your time and be thankful. Spend time laughing and forgetting about the China virus and politics. Just have a good time and be thankful! Happy Thanksgiving from Homestead Nutrition and me!
