Taking Care of the Farm

Hello everyone! I hope your week is going well. I have skipped out on writing a week or so. This may be more frequent over the next couple of months as we enter the holiday season and do a bit of traveling.

Last week on Thursday and Friday I took care of the farm while my parents took my grandparents to Canton, TX to the huge fleamarket. They left around 3am in a terrible storm. Thankfully they didn’t leave at 1am as they had originally planned. If they had, chances are they would have been in grave danger as the weather was very bad in one area they had to pass through.

After they left, it got rough here and I got a little nervous. After that passed everything went well. Mom had trained me for 2 weeks in feeding the goats and chickens. I was able to do all of that with no problem.

I cooked one of my favorite soups, Amish corn chowder. That was my supper both days. I love corn chowder and no one else in my family really does. So I enjoyed it.

Note: Recipe for Amish Corn Chowder:

Ingredients:

5 potatoes

1 organic onion

1 can of organic corn

Milk

Instructions:

Boil potatoes until done. Sauté onion. Drain water off potatoes. Add onion and corn. Cover with milk and bring almost to a boil. Add salt and pepper to taste. Enjoy.
