Rant on the Heat & More of My Favorite Supplements Along with a Smoothie Recipe

Hello everyone! Hope you are staying cool in your neck of the woods. As for us, we are burning up. It is so hot and humid that you cannot hardly breathe outside. We are so ready for a break in this heat. If you are considering a move to Mississippi, or anywhere in the Deep South, please think long and hard before doing so. I wouldn’t recommend it. We would love to have a summer home in a cooler State. If it were up to me, it would be a permanent home, but my dad doesn’t want to live where it snows in winter.

All that aside, I want to talk about some more of my favorite supplements. Last week we discussed 7 natural pain killers. Another natural pain killer that could be added to the list is Magnesium. This is one of my very favorite supplements. It relaxes the muscles and also aids in sleep. It acts as a laxative. In fact, the best way to determine when you have taken too much is when you have loose stool. I personally take 2 capsules daily at 200mg each. If I have trouble sleeping I take 2 more. I have taken 6 to go to sleep, which is at bowel tolerance for me. Pardon the personal references, but I can only speak for myself. I used to have stomach cramps during menstruation. Now that I take Magnesium daily I rarely have pain during that time. Of course, some of that could also be due to a cleaner diet as well. I highly recommend Magnesium as a daily supplement.

Vitamin C is great for the immune system. My grandparents are in their 80s and all their peers had the flu last winter. They take Vitamin C daily and they never had the flu. It’s so good for so much.

Vitamin D3 5000IU is another must. It fights breast cancer, regulates cholesterol and blood pressure, helps with cardiovascular health, etc. I am currently taking 2 daily.

Kyolic Garlic is another supplement I take daily. It’s great for the immune system, blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. It also contains sulfur which is great for the skin and joints.

Probiotics are great for the immune system and overall gut health. I take 1 daily that is 50 billion CFU. You can also get probiotics through organic sauerkraut, kefir, Kombucha, kimchi, and other fermentation’s. I am aware that yogurt contains probiotics, but I use it sparingly due to sugar content. Most mainstream yogurts have artificial sweeteners, which are worse than sugar. I eat dairy free organic yogurt. I limit myself to 1 or 2 small servings a week. There isn’t enough probiotic in yogurt to compensate for eating that much sugar.

I have recently started taking organic flaxseed oil. I started when my shoulder was causing me a lot of pain. It helped with the pain, I think, and I take it now daily. I also take another Omega supplement called Yes Parent Essential Oil that contains several oils, such as evening primrose, borage, coconut, etc.

Theanine is an amino acid that people are taking like crazy for anxiety. It relaxes the body and acts as a natural beta blocker. I was first introduced to Theanine as a supplement for Attention Deficit Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder. Many people are having success using it for anxiety relief. I sell it to a lot of people who work in the medical field.

As I close, let me share our latest smoothie recipe:

1 banana

6 baby carrots

1 tablespoon or so of organic no sugar added peanut butter

1 cup chocolate almond milk

1 scoop chocolate bone broth (Organixx brand)

2 cups ice

You can also use 1 avocado if you want to add thickness.

Place ingredients, except for ice, in blender. Blend well, then add ice and blend again. Enjoy!
